San Juan Day - Dinner

Grandma Trudy still wasn’t feeling great and said she didn’t know if she would us for dinner or not.  The rest of us headed down to Blu.  My smart casual outfit for the evening:

Shortly after we sat down to dinner, there was a stunning sunset over the hills of Puerto Rico that was visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows in Blu.  Everyone, including the waitstaff, stopped what they were doing for several minutes and just gazed out the window a until the sun had disappeared entirely.

Our assistant waiter made Sweet Pea an amazing bird out of napkins.

Shorty after we ordered, Grandma Trudy arrived to join us for dinner.

Grandma Trudy ordered a surprisingly good butternut squash soup for a starter.  Our waiter really hustled so he could serve it with the rest of our dishes.  Shannon ordered a fennel citrus salad which was excellent.

Sweet Pea got the tamarind glazed quail.  She had a hard time getting the meat off the bone usin her knife and fork but really enjoyed it.   Ross loved his lump crab “martini”.

For our main course, Ross and I both ordered ribeyes on the recommendation of our waiter.  They were excellent.  Sweet Pea got duck, which she liked.  Grandma Trudy ordered the grilled lamb chop salad, but she was feeling so  tired she wasn’t really able to eat it.  Ross walked her back to her room while I finished my meal.

When he came back, we finished up with cappuccinos and lava cake. Yum!

After dinner, we went back to the cabin to check on Trudy.  She seemed somewhat recovered but needed Ross’s help to straighten out an issue with her credit card, which had a hold put on it because of the out-of-the-country charges she had made today in San Juan.   I went to evening trivia by myself.   Trivia involved identifying famous people from pictures when they were young.  My group did terribly.  :)

I met up with Ross and Trudy at the ship’s “No Yes No” game show.   A contestant has to sit in the hot seat and be interviewed for 3 minutes without ever saying “yes” or “no”.  It was very entertaining.

I got Sweet Pea from the kid’s Blu. And we finished the evening at Cafe el Bacio with herbal tea for the adults and gelato for Sweet Pea.
