Embarkation Day Dinner in Blu

Tonight is a casual night.

Blu is the name of our designated dining room for this trip.  Shannon and Sweet Pea.

Ross and Grandma Trudy.

For annappitizer Sweet Pea ordered Baked Brie Cheese Bites.  The waiter warned her that the sauce was spicy but she said that she could handle it.  Grandma Trudy ordered the same thing but got the spicy sauce on the side. Both Sweet Pea and Trudy liked  it.   The sauce was sweet-spicy. Definitively not too hot.   Shannon had a corn veleoté soup which was te best appetizer of the night.  Ross ordered a smoky gazpacho, which was in fact very spicy.

For a main course, Sweet Pea ordered a vetetwble pesto lasagne which was delicious.  Everyone was somewhat surprised by how tasty it was.

Shannn got short ribs which were okay but a little bland.

Ross ordered dorade, a type of fish, in a tomato sauce with artichoke hearts.  It was the best entre of the night.  Grandma Trudy tried to order the salmon off of the “classics” menu, but our waiter kept steering her back to the dorade, eventually saying, “How about I have the chef prepare the dorade with the same sides that come with the salmon, but that way you can have the better fish?”   She finally agreed and I’m sure it was for the best.  Ross always says that if a waiter repeatedly warns you not to order a particular item that you should listen.  He very lucky knows something that you don’t.

For dessert Sweet Pea ordered a dark chocolate cherry mousse which was wonderful.

The waiter urged us to get a dulce de lèche crème which Shannon and Ross got. It was amazing.

Grandma Tridy ordered her usual crème brûle, but didn’t like it as well as the dulcet denkeche crème so she ordered one of those instead.

It was a great first meal!
