Ft. Lauderdale & Bubba Gump Shrimp

After we landed in Ft Lauderdale, we had about 3 hours to kill before Grandma Trudy’s flight was supposed to land.   We thought it might take a while to rent the car so we decided to do that while we waited.  Well the car rental place was right inside our terminal so we didn’t have to take a shuttle and there was no line.  We had the car rented in about 10 minutes flat.  We loaded up the Chrysler Pacifica mini-van with luggage and then climbed in to test it out.  It was so quiet and comfortable inside that we decided to stay right there, eat our snacks and play games.  We are sure we have never had more fun in a rental car lot.  

When it was time to pick up Grandma Trudy we sadly departed the car lot.  We had to make three full loops around the airport before we managed to get to the short term parking lot. It was an adventure.  Ross went in get Trudy while Sweet Pea and Shannon stayed in the car.  

We headed out and we’re looking for a place to eat when Shannon recognized our hotel from last year and knew exactly what we should do for dinner.  

The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co!   It turns out that the Friday night before spring break in Ft Lauderdale is kind of a madhouse.  Who would have guessed?  We had some trouble with parking, had to walk quite a ways, and wait for a table, but it was worth it.  

Sweet Pea ordered a light-up blue raspberry icee that she loved.  She drank over half of it before our food arrived. 



You can turn this sign over to “Stop Forrest Stop” if you need your waiter’s attention.  Which is a good idea, but we never remembered to do it. 


We ordered garlic shrimp, a shrimp trio and coconut shrimp.  Note to self: next time order two orders of coconut shrimp.  :)

After dinner we left Ft Lauderdale and drove to our hotel in Miami.  The drive was made extra interesting by the insanity that is Florida drivers.   Many cars were pulled over on the shoulder, some drivers were going 40, while others raced by weaving in and out of the traffic going maybe 85mph.  We were very happy when we made it to our hotel!  We are looking forward to a fun day in Miami tomorrow.
